North Carolina is currently holding over $400 million in unclaimed funds!
Unclaimed property consists of bank accounts, wages, insurance policy proceeds, utility deposits, stocks, bonds, and contents of safe deposit boxes that have been abandoned – that is, for which there have been no documented transactions or contact with the owners for a statutory period of time. In most cases, this period of time varies from 1 to 5 years depending upon the property type. There are over 100 types of property which may become unclaimed.
Funds can become unclaimed for a variety of reasons including not telling a company you moved, not collecting a final paycheck, not collecting a utility deposit before you move and a host of other reasons too many to mention.
By law, these funds are escheated, or turned over, to the Department of State Treasurer for safekeeping. As new funds are added the NC Cash database is updated. You’re name could be on there now!

Robert Quesenbury says
I am preparing to post a claim and need to know the following. The claim is for my deceased wife JoAnn B. Quesenbury. The problem I face is that she died not having an estate because she had suffered with bone cancer for over two years. I addition I had been unemployed during that time and lost everything I owned. Therefore I have no estate information for estate documentation. Please advise on estate docimentation.

How do I locate a US Savings Bond issued approximately 1987+?
My mom Helon M. Smothers (deceased) purchased bonds for daughter Susie M Fargis- and two granddaughters – Angela M. Shumate and Mary Clark. She also purchased bonds for great grandchildred – Bradley Ryan Clark, Laura Shumate and Sarah Shumate.
I feel positive that she also purchased one for great grandson Bryce William Clark but have been unable to locate said bond. I don’t understand why Bryce would have been left out since she got bonds for our entire family.
Thank you for any information.
