Ohio Unclaimed FundsLucas County, Ohio is holding over $1 million dollars in unclaimed funds. The Lucas County Auditor maintains a Lucas unclaimed funds listing comprised of payments that were not redeemed by the payee when they were originally issued,. These funds can still be claimed from Lucas County.

If you find funds that you believe you are entitled to, you can make a claim by submitting an unclaimed funds form.


The unclaimed funds form should be returned to:

Attn: Unclaimed Funds Disbursements Department

Toledo, OH 43604-2255

You can also obtain a claim form by calling the Auditor’s Disbursements Department at (419) 213-4419.

The unclaimed funds form cannot be processed without a notarized signature. If multiple unredeemed payments exist, a claim form and notarization needs to be completed for each unredeemed payment.

All claims must have proper proof of claim which includes:

  • The original check(s) if available
  • For individuals, a photocopy of the owners Social Security card and drivers license or State ID.  This is required on all claims.
  • For owners of unclaimed funds that are a corporation and treated as such for federal income tax purposes, a copy of the front of the tax return (or a document indicating the Federal Identification Number) is required.  Also, an individual signing a claim form must provide Proof of Authority to claim funds on behalf of the company.  This can include a corporate resolution or affidavit from a senior offices as well as verification of the position of both individuals.  This could be board minutes, SEC filings, directories listing officers, or annual reports.  Letterhead or business cards are not acceptable proof.

Normally, unclaimed funds claim forms are processed within  15 days.  This can take longer if a request is incomplete or if additional information is required to verify a claim.

A professional finder must present a valid contract with the claim before the payment is issued.  If requested, the check can be sent to the finder in the name of the payee.
